Newborn Information

newborn info 1If you are expecting a baby, our office can schedule you for a prenatal visit with one of our pediatricians. There is no charge for a prenatal visit and it is an excellent way to see the office and meet our staff. One of the pediatricians will talk with you about your pregnancy and answer any questions you have about infants and our pediatric practice.

When your baby is born, your delivery nurse will call the pediatrician of your choice. You may choose a pediatrician without a prenatal visit. One of our pediatricians will examine your baby in the hospital within 24 hours of his/her birth. We see babies at Baptist, Centennial and Vanderbilt Hospitals. Our cross-covering Pediatricians see our babies at Williamson County Hospital. The doctor will see you and your baby daily to discuss health and feeding issues. Most babies are seen in our office within one week of discharge and breastfed babies within a few days. A lactation consultant from 9 Months & Beyond, LLC will call our breastfeeding mothers after discharge to check on breastfeeding and answer any questions. A lactation consultation can be scheduled if necessary.

Breastfeeding has many proven medical and emotional benefits. Obtaining knowledge by attending prenatal breastfeeding classes and reading various books about breastfeeding will help your breastfeeding experience. While breastfeeding is a natural process, it does not always come without a few challenges. Finding reliable, compassionate, knowledgeable and up-to-date assistance is key to achieving your breastfeeding goals. 9 Months and Beyond, LLC is located in our office and is a great source for prenatal and lactation advice. www.ninemonthsandbeyond.com
